Solution:

\text{Scale factor} = \frac{\text{Enlarged Side}}{\text{Corresponding Object Side}}

The scale factor is the same for each corresponding sides.

\text{Scale factor} = \frac{E'F}{EF} = \frac{F'G'}{FG} = \frac{G'H'}{GH} = \frac{E'H'}{EH}

\frac{12\,\text{cm}}{EF} = \frac{20\,\text{cm}}{5\,\text{cm}}

Cross multiply and solve for EF

20 \times EF = 12 \times 5

Divide both sides by 20

EF = \frac{12 \times 5}{20}

Note

1. 5 divides itself 1 and 20, 4 times

2. 4 divides itself 1 and 12, 3 times

EF = 3\,\text{cm}
