The fencing is the perimeter of the rectangular field.

Perimeter is the summation (addition) of the length of the sides of a shape

Rectangle has 4 sides.

The perimeter of the rectangular field

=2 \times 50+2 \times y

But the perimeter is given as 260 m

260=2 \times 50+2 \times y

Solve for the value of

y

\;260=100+2 x y

\;260-100=2 x y

\;160=2 x y

Divide both sides by 2

y=\;\frac{160}{2}=80
