The Aborigine's Rights Protection Society (ARFS) was the first inter-territorial association organised by some educated African elite in the Gold Coast. It was formed in 1897 in the Gold Coast (modern-day Ghana), the ARPS was established to protest against the Crown Lands Bill of 1896 and the Lands Bill of 1897. These bills aimed to transfer land ownership from local chiefs to the British colonial government.
